The 1% of untapped geothermal energy lies underground in Australia could be used for electricity production-friendly environment for the next 26,000 years, Australian scientists claim.
The Australian government announced it is investing 50 million dollars in a project to develop technology to convert geothermal energy into electricity.
Until now, Australia produced 77% of its electricity from burning coal.
